Marty Lee inducted into JA Hall of Fame
Pioneers President served 30 years with JA

Marty Lee, President of TelecomPioneers, has been inducted into the Junior Achievement Professional Staff Hall of Fame – making him only the 13th inductee into this prestigious group in the history of JA.

Following 30 years of service to Junior Achievement in a variety of leadership roles, Marty retired December 31, 2003.  In 2005, he was recruited out of retirement to become the President of TelecomPioneers.

Marty joined Junior Achievement in 1970 as Program Director in Atlanta, GA. From there he advanced through a number of positions and roles including Executive Director/CSO in Jackson, MS; Regional Project Business Director in Atlanta and St. Louis; Executive Vice-President/CSO in Orlando, FL; and Vice-President of Operations in New York City.

In 1986 Marty began the last half of his career joining JA’s National Staff based in Colorado Springs, CO.  He was first appointed as Vice-President of Training, then Vice-President of Personnel, followed by Vice-President of Human Resources and finally, Senior Vice-President of Human Resources before ending his JA career as Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer.

With the exception of Dick Maxwell, JA’s first President & CEO (a position created in 1970), Marty reported to  every President & CEO in JA’s history, a group that includes Karl Flemke, Kathy Whitmire, James B. Hayes and the current President  & CEO, David S. Chernow.

During his 30-year career, Marty received numerous Area performance awards including Regional Growth Awards, Business Basics and Project Business 4-Star Awards, and Innovation Awards.  He also served on many national committees and taskforces including the Compensation Taskforce, the Equi-Comp Taskforce, the Cultural Taskforce, the Insurance Taskforce, the Executive Development Taskforce, many National Training Seminar/National Leadership Planning Committees, and was a member and later Chair of the Pension Management Committee.

In reflecting on his career, Marty is most proud of his work with the Human Resources team.  Thanks to strides made under his leadership, the HR team continually received high ratings on field satisfaction surveys completed by JA employees across the nation.
